On 31st July, "IP Plus" International Intellectual Property Professional Exchange Series "Webinar on Intellectual Property Protection in Russia" was successfully held in online format. The seminar was hosted by the Capital Intellectual Property Service Association and the Beijing (Zhongguancun) International Intellectual Property Service Hall, and organised by Beijing De & Heng Law Firm and the Russian legal patent agency Melling, Voitishkin & Partners.

The seminar not only gained the attention of practitioners from member institutions, intellectual property service organisations and research institutes in Zhongguancun, but also attracted representatives from renowned enterprises, trade bodies and universities, such as the China Society for Technological Economics, the Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macao Financial Technologists and Specialists Programme, Robb Medical, Guangxi University of Science and Technology and others.

 The seminar consisted of three parts. Firstly, Mr. Yuri Yakhin, Senior Associate of Melling, Voitishkin & Partners Legal Patent Agency, introduced the Russian patent and trade mark application process, how to apply for Russian patents and trademarks by using different international conventions, the related costs and process, etc. Secondly, Mr. Yuri Yakhin continued to Mr. Yuri Yakhin talked about the intellectual property environment and the latest progress in Russia, shared classic cases in the field of patents and trademarks, and made an in-depth analysis of the latest cases. Thirdly, Ms. Xia Ying, senior consultant of Beijing De & Heng Law Firm, introduced the Russian IPR legal system and the characteristics of patent law, the IPR challenges for Chinese enterprises going abroad to Russia, and the opportunities and risk coping strategies under the new situation. The delegates highly appreciated this activity and hoped that more similar seminars could be held in the future to enable enterprises to have a deeper understanding of the IPR application review procedures of different countries, so as to provide escort for enterprises "going out".
