On 7th August, the webinar on "Trademark Application and EU Design Reform in China and Europe", part of the "IP Plus" series of international IP professional exchange activities, was successfully held online. The seminar was organised by the Capital Intellectual Property Service Association, the Polish Patent Attorneys Association and the Beijing (Zhongguancun) International Intellectual Property Service Hall, and was hosted by Beijing Pan-China Wei-Ye Intellectual Property Agency Ltd. and Beijing De & Heng Law Firm.
The seminar not only gained the attention of practitioners from member institutions, intellectual property service organisations and research institutes in Zhongguancun, but also attracted representatives from well-known enterprises, institutions and universities such as Sihuan Pharmaceuticals, Zhongguancun Open Fund, Jingqing Digital Electronics, as well as the Polish Patent Association and patent agencies and corporate members from Poland.
The seminar consisted of three parts: firstly, Ms Monika Weingärtner, partner of MJW Legal Patent Agency, introduced the important issues of the EU design reform, including the latest legal requirements for the EU design as well as the relevant cases, etc.; secondly, Ms Katarzyna Prędota, founding partner of Katarzyna Predota Legal Patent Agency, introduced the important issues of the EU trademark application. Ms. Katarzyna Pręłota, founding partner of Katarzyna Predota Legal Patent Agency, introduced the bad faith applications and cases in EU trademark applications, including different situations of bad faith, bad faith trademark snatching and bad faith hoarding, etc., and shared the classic cases in the relevant fields, and made an in-depth analysis of the latest cases; thirdly, Mr. Yang Wenquan, partner of Beijing Panchina Weiyi Intellectual Property Agency Co., Ltd. introduced the understanding of dishonest behaviour in Chinese trademark applications, and Chinese Thirdly, Mr. Yang Wenquan, Partner of Beijing Pan-China Weiyi Intellectual Property Agency Co. The delegates highly appreciated this activity and hoped that more similar seminars could be held in the future to enable enterprises to have a deeper understanding of the examination procedures of intellectual property applications in different countries, so as to escort enterprises to "go global".
