Our association and Beijing (Zhongguancun) International Intellectual Property Service Hall will organise IP-related activities in various forms to build a platform for international exchanges among IP folk and continuously promote international exchanges and cooperation in the industry.
At the event, Gao Yongyi, Executive Vice President of Capital Intellectual Property Service Association, attended the event and delivered a speech, Regis Aslana, a partner and former ambassador of Brazil's Lithia Patent Firm, was present at the event, and nearly 100 people participated in the seminar and the subsequent exchange activities since the member units, domestic and foreign innovation subjects, intellectual property service institutions, enterprises in the Zhongguancun Park, scientific research institutes, and members of the public. The seminar was chaired by my secretary-general Wang Jing.
Gao Yongyi said that the two sides have a long history of cooperation in the field of intellectual property protection and innovation, and have achieved fruitful results. Through this event, we can provide inspiration and insights to make new breakthroughs in intellectual property protection, technological innovation and business practices, and through our joint efforts, we can deepen the cooperation between China and Brazil in the field of intellectual property and produce more fruitful results.
At the event, Otto Licks, founding partner of Brazil Patent Firm, and Robert, partner of Brazil Patent Firm, made an in-depth presentation on the topic of "Brazil's Intellectual Property Environment and Protection Measures". They revealed the importance of IPR protection in Brazil through a legal perspective, and introduced in detail how to formulate and implement an effective and diversified IPR protection strategy.
Otto Licks gave a detailed presentation on the Brazilian legal system, in particular the dual-track system in patent adjudication, as well as the patent system and judicial protection measures in the fields of information and communication technology and life sciences. He shared his extensive experience in patent litigation, trade secrets and unfair competition, emphasising the importance of IP protection in Brazil.
Robert, on the other hand, focused his sharing on industrial design. He elaborated on the specific protections available in Brazil in the field of industrial designs, including the design patent application process and examination criteria. He also discussed the considerations when registering an industrial design in Brazil, as well as the legal measures that can be taken in case of infringement.
At the event, Ms Wang Ruiqi from Beijing Kyoto Law Firm shared the topic of "Comparison of Brazilian and Chinese Trademark Laws". She analysed in-depth the trademark use and infringement issues faced by overseas companies in the context of digital competition, and emphasised the need for legal practitioners to constantly accept new challenges in order to solve new and difficult cases. In addition, she detailed the main differences and similarities between the two countries in terms of the trademark application process, opposition procedures and protection of trademark rights, and offered practical advice on how companies should lay out their trademarks in advance, preserve evidence of use, and carry out the identification of high-profile trademarks. These contents help enterprises better understand and cope with the Brazilian trademark legal environment and enhance their competitiveness in the international market.
The seminar aims to fully gather high-quality international IP service resources and promote the development of the capital's IP service industry in the direction of higher-end, branding, internationalisation and clustering. Based on this goal, the International Protection of Intellectual Property Professional Committee of BICC, the Capital Intellectual Property Service Industry Association and the Beijing (Zhongguancun) International Intellectual Property Service Hall will organise IP-related activities in various forms. By establishing a platform for international communication among IP folk, we will continue to promote international exchanges and co-operation in the industry, and work together to tell the success story of China's IP and showcase its progress globally.
