On 6th September, the "China-US Intellectual Property Protection Webinar", part of the "IP Plus" series of international intellectual property professional exchange activities, was successfully held in an online format. The seminar was hosted by the Capital Intellectual Property Service Association and the Beijing (Zhongguancun) International Intellectual Property Service Hall, and organised by the US law firm Hauptman Ham.
The seminar not only gained the attention of practitioners from member institutions, intellectual property service organisations, research institutes and other institutions, but also attracted the participation of leaders of foreign-related enterprises, teachers and students from colleges and universities.
The seminar consisted of three parts: First, Joshua Pritchett, a partner of Hauptman Ham, introduced overseas intellectual property risks and management, including potential intellectual property risks when enterprises go abroad, FTO analysis and the necessity of design avoidance; second, Ms. Suoyi introduced the comparison of the intellectual property examination systems in the United States and China, including the comparison of application routes, patentability requirements and examination procedures, as well as the suggestions to reduce the official fees and agency fees in the United States. Secondly, Ms. Suoyi introduced the comparison between the US and China IPR examination system, including the application route, patentability requirements and comparison of examination procedures, as well as the suggestions to reduce the US official fees and agency fees, etc. In the question and answer session, the delegates actively interacted with the lecturer.
We look forward to organising more similar seminars in the future so that enterprises can have a deeper understanding of the IPR examination procedures in different countries. This will help enterprises to better protect their intellectual property rights in the process of globalisation and provide a strong guarantee for enterprises to "go global". In the current context of global economic integration, intellectual property rights have become an important part of the competitiveness of enterprises. Therefore, it is crucial for enterprises to understand the examination procedures of IPR applications in different countries. By attending such seminars, enterprises can learn about different countries' IP laws and regulations, application procedures and examination standards, which can provide strong support for their global layout.
